Isleworth Driving Test Centre
Isleworth dtc is on Fleming way industrial estate, it can get pretty hectic. The centre itself is moderately sized and oversees the tests of countless learners in North West London. If it’s to be the test centre you head to for your driving test, we’d advise getting to know it better. Pinner is less than 10 minutes away from the town centre—in close proximity to Northwood Hills station—ensuring that all learners can reach it with relative ease. If you haven’t started your lessons yet, however, and you’re wondering where exactly the centre is, use these directions. Please be aware that the centre does not offer parking, so you will have to use the roads closest.
Pinner test centre has a realm of varying road conditions and challenges for learners to face before they become a fully qualified driver. For starters, it’s situated near a local primary school and quiet, residential roads—so careful observations are key. Further from the centre are busy A routes like the A4125, testing a candidate’s ability to move through different traffic and speed systems. Needless to say, candidates will be put through their paces. If you’d like to know more about Pinner in a general sense, we’ve got plenty of resources for you to enjoy…
You won’t be able to find an exact test route for Pinner test centre, as the DVSA no longer publishes up-to-date routes. Fortunately, you can see what roads might feature on your route by looking at videos of Pinner test routes on YouTube or by downloading our sample Pinner driving test routes. Additionally, as we’ve discussed, the practical will test your newfound driving skills on the roads local to the cente. If you’ve had lessons with a local ADI, they’ll have introduced you to the roads most likely to feature on your practical—from crossroads to pedestrian crossings to bus routes. As such, you’ve not got much to worry about.
The DVSA regularly publishes statistics for driving tests, which we keep our eyes peeled for—our learners are obsessed with stats and pass rates!
The most interesting stats so far show that learners in the UK have a 47% chance of passing their driving test. This narrows substantially, however, for those in London—with a pass rate of 40.8%. To give you an idea of how those at Pinner (London) perform, we’ve compiled pass rates from the last five years…
2014-15 | 2015-16 | 2016-17 | 2017-18 | 2018-19 |
45.6% | 45.2% | 45.5% | 43.1% | 41.4% |
There’s really not much to complain about with these pass rates. They’re higher than the average for London and they’re not that much lower than the UK’s national average. If you’re still feeling uncertain in your ability, get some top notch driving tips on the PassMeFast blog.
If Pinner is no longer an option—or you’re just looking for a backup—the closest alternative Greater London test centres are Greenford Whitton Avenue East or Greenford London.
you’ve really got nothing to panic about. Make sure you know if you’re taking your instructor on your test, and be sure to get to the centre 10 minutes early. Don’t forget your provisional!
The format of your practical will be as follows:
- An eyesight test, where you’ll need to read a number plate from a distance of 20 metres
- Two “show me, tell me” questions covering vehicle safety and maintenance
- Twenty minutes of general driving, where you’ll be guided by the examiner, and will also need to perform one of the following manoeuvres:
- Parallel parking
- Bay parking
- Pulling up on the right
- Twenty minutes of independent driving, during which you’ll either follow sat nav directions or sign posts to reach a set destination
The test officially ends once you’re back at Pinner test centre with the car parked and the ignition turned off. Throughout the test, the examiner will have been marking your progress on a feedback sheet—noting down any faults you may have accumulated. They will give you this and additional verbal feedback once they’ve told you their verdict. Those who pass will also be handed a test pass certificate and will get the chance to send off for their new full licence.
Of course it’s disappointing if you fail your test—but it’s not the end of the world. Learning to drive is a difficult process for some, so it’s to be expected that you might have a few hiccups along the way. The biggest advantage of the feedback sheet is that you can use it to determine which areas need more work. If you’re ready to get back behind the wheel, can sort you out with a fast-track test and additional tuition. Simply call us on or contact us online to get booked in.
is 100% against prolonging the learning experience. We don’t believe that learners should spend months learning to drive, when they can do it in mere weeks or days. That’s why we created our own tailored crash course packages—to suit learners with varied levels of experience—that can be taken intensively or semi-intensively in the Harrow area.
Wondering where to start? Check out our crash course packages on our course prices page. Once you’ve got a rough idea, it’s as easy as calling or booking a course online.
